Sista to Sista

Girl I’ll tell ya life for me hasn’t been that easy

The way I struggled and tried.

It seemed to give me a lot of pride.

That pride I must not lose,

Being African-American puts a dent in our life

For all the slaves and people that dead.

Climbing ladders, and steps to reach my goal

But now it’s beautiful and heart felt in my soul.

Try your best don’t you ever give up.

You going to have to struggle and try but that pride you must not lose

Life hasn’t been easy.

 Sister to Sister

Heaven knows that you are mean to me

I still love you.

Heaven knows that you don’t like me

I still like you.

Heaven knows  that you get more gifts than me

I still like you.

Heaven knows that you sometimes get me in trouble

I still like you.

And the only thing that I want you to know

Is  these words

 I love you

Eunice Reyes

Mother to Daughter

I’ll tell you girl

Life has not always been good

Many a night  I’ve cried

And wondered  what the next day would be like

And what it might bring

Girl I’ll tell you, you are blessed

As a kid, my parents struggled

I might look happy

But baby I’m not

Deep down inside I’m hurting

Girl you have way more than me

I hope and I pray that there’s

A light at the end of the tunnel

You have both sides of the world

Things might be sweet now

But someday it’s not going to

Be as sweet

I kept going always

Pray and wait

Life is not a game.

SISTER TO SISTER

darling sister, young and innocent
Please be careful along your journey
Mine was rough with jagged edges
For my journey ended early
I had to grow up so early I had no time to live
For when he arrived I had no fun
Please
be wise in the steps you take
please
do not make the same mistake
I love you so
Don't try to be all grown up
For yet you are still so young
I learned my lesson the hard way
now I have the hardest job of all taking care
of myself and my son
take it from me and don't try to be me
I love you dear sister
take your time growing up
It goes by so fast just take it easy
don't be so busy

Look Child:

Life has been good to you

I treat

You like gold

You treat me like dirt.

I’m tired  of your complaining about

This name brand stuff.

When you turn my age with

One or two children

You gon’ be saying

Wish I were good to mama.

When you get grown

I want you to tell

Yo’ kids like I’m telling you

Babies follow your footsteps and you

Follow your dreams.

Son to Mother

Mom, I love you very much,

You’re the only mother I will ever have,

However, mother,

There are some things maybe you should know,

Mother, I don’t appreciate your outlook on life,

That everything is without value,

I know I’m of some value, I wish for once you’d see it that way.

Mother, it disappoints me when I observe you and your acts

How you the hate the world,

It doesn’t hate you,

When I see you being selfish and unworthy, sometimes

That hurts me.

But mom you must understand the world is

Not an evil place.

That if you wait long enough you will see this soon.

I love you mother, lets hope someday you do too.

DAUGHTER TO DAD

Dad, I’ll tell you

My short life has been a crystal stair

A stair of piercing crystals everywhere

I’ve been poked and torn up

I’ve seen evil through the crystal

It tempted and begged me plain and simple

You might think life is easier now

But that isn’t true

Life is harder now because evil is no more few

Fear has stained those shining crystals

To a dimmer of darkness

Dad you say sometimes you can’t figure me out

Well dad, Surprise I can’t figure myself out either

I don’t even know if I’m on the right stair

Dad, it is true I am more western

Than Indian

And that drives me crazy

I don’t know where I belong

And for that I am angry with you

But I understand you, not much that is true.

And dad, don’t worry

Life might be hard and drive us crazy

But at the end I’m sure

There will be paradise and oh so pretty and new

We will survive and defeat evil

And we’ll hold hands and smile a real smile

Daughter To Mother

Mom I know that life with me hasn’t been that great, but when I see all the great things you do

I wanna do them too.

When I mess up you’re always ready to help.

When I fall down you’re there helping me up.

When I get upset and yell and scream you’re there to calm me down.

When I’m sick you’re there taking care of me, and I love you for that.

Even when I do wrong you still love me, no matter how bad it is.

So when I look over my life

and see all you’ve done for me

I just wanna say

THANK YOU!!

When you get older I’ll do the same things for you

and then you can say it too.

I know life with me hasn’t been that great

but you know that I LOVE YOU!!!
