Grandma
My Grandma
I barely knew,
sits without a thought in mind.
Grandma,
She can barely hear,
she's losing her sight,
but has no fear.
Grandma,
she tells me short stories
of my great grandfather
and his great accomplishments
then says I'm just like him
with laughter and power.
Grandma,
treats me as a woman
then spoils me as a child.
She tells me "you can move up in the world but you have to crawl
before you can walk".
My Grandma I barely
knew!

Lament
I am Honesty
I dress in what is best for me
I am related to any angry person
I vacation when I step out the house
I am honesty
My job is to be very respectful to everyone I see.
I desire is to be honest where I am .

rough fingers
away like the thunder the cat flew
from out of the window, sprang this big-black, cat,
who knew
the
Thunder
most likely frightened the poor thing
too rough,
the pavement in the morn,
unlike the afternoon,
Especially when it rains cats can’t hold on
unlike you and me we have shoes,
fingers, what a delight to have especially on this night
what a thunderous fright
of what of all things this cat shouldn't do…
is to mess with me while I have on new shoes

Hate
Hate
It angers
Clouds minds
Hate endangers love
Spreads like a virus
It eats the heart up
Something so hard to get rid of
It flows faster than the water runs
Burns the blood of an innocent soul
The living good shall end the rein of hate.

FLORIDA
The
time I went to Florida was real nice
Even
though I had been there twice.
My
mom woke me up in the middle of the night
Gave
me my bags and said, “I
remembered your kite.”
I
looked puzzled when I took my bag
My
mom said, “Now
you won’t
have to listen to me nag.”
I
still had no clue why everyone was there
I
just hoped this place didn’t
have any bears.
My
mom wouldn’t
tell me who was taking me.
I
said I would go as long as I could take a break from my spelling
bee.
Finally a car pulled up in front of my house,
And
to my surprise it was my uncle and his spouse.
I
said bye to my mom when I got in the car.
My
uncle got in and took off the safety bar.
I
waved to my mom as we left the driveway,
Headed down the street and got on the highway.
We
got to the condo and I saw my cousin.
She
handed me a toy bee that was buzzin’
My
trip to Florida was really fun.
I
got home and helped my mom make some homemade buns.

Listening
Devin you already have some money
You're not keeping that job
We're going to Topeka, Kansas
It's so quiet and dull here
You all need to learn how to make kool-aid
Are you going to bed at 11:00?
Burn me a CD Devin
I have to be at work by 4:00 today
Why didn't you pick up the phone?
I'm going to the Kappa House on Saturday
I love you daddy
I need $8 for the field trip
May I speak to Demetria
That project is due next week
I need to see the phone Alex
Will you call me back?
Do you want to go to that concert on June 24?
Ask Brittney if she wants to go
I plan on going to Gateway High
What are you wearing for Promotion Day?

Always to be with my friends
and butterflies, No need for shots
or being with my brother.
“You sing and dance well,”
said my fifth grade music teacher.
That made me feel so happy.
My very good friend, Giovanni died
when I was in fifth grade.
I felt like I could die.
My greatest wish was that I could bring him
Back, or at least see or talk to him.
I cry when I am lectured or yelled at.
I have dreams that I hope
to come true one day.
I also hope that I can become
a singer and an actress.
I have many dreams, that are yet to come true.

Life
Life is game
a game that everybody plays
you are a player, a custom made player
in this twisted little game of life

Granny
looking at her is like looking into the
future to see what it holds.
As I look into her
eyes it's like looking into a mirror 50 years from now.
It's like I'm looking into wisdom, kindness, lovingness, brilliantness,
and beauty.
Looking at her makes me feel happy with who I am.
And who I want to be.
Loving her is like food to my heart.
I love you.

The Wonderful World of Zero
The
wonderful world of zero brightens up my day.
With zero
schools, zero houses and zero work to pay.
Plus zero
people with zero books.
Zero
parents with zero looks.
Zero
noises plus zero play .
Zero
months, years, weeks, and zero day.
Zero her
and Zero him.
Zero Sara
and zero Tim.
Zero
teachers and zero bleachers.
Zero me
and zero you.
So what,
I “ X” you out!
Now you
can sue!

Gateway Rap
Well, it started out when I walked in the school.
A place to learn and follow some rules!
Walking down the hall, going to my class!
About to take a test that I know I will pass.
I studied hard, every night and every day.
When report cards come, I know I’ll get an “A”.
I know I’m very tire, from my head to my hip,
But it will all be worth it when I get my
SCHOLARSHIP!

Together
Together we can kick and jump
Together we can trick and stump
The old man down the hill
Together we can date a mate
Together we can rate a skate
Back in the old west place
Together we can go to work
Together we can be a clerk
In our lifetime, forever

Walking
and Talking
When
I walk and talk
I
can’t think of what I’d say
Stumbling
instead and mumble away
I’ll
fall, stumble on words
Just
like last time I fell
That’s
how words can hurt

Notice Me
Then they’ll
notice
Took as a
stranger
The others
pass me along
Other goes
on by
As I they
never notice
Just as I
expected
As I would
any other day
Fair is not
in this question, But what is?

Thinking
I am unable to think.
It’s like my thoughts are not there, but
really they're just stuck in my head.
It’s like my head is a prison cell that I
can’t find the key to.
But if I can’t find the key, I may still
be able to sneak out a thought or two.

The Wind in My Hair
The
wind in my hair
Riding down the path
I see
a bird in a birdbath
The
wind in my hair
The
wind in my hair
I
road him to the movie
It
was groovy
The
wind in my hair
The
wind in my hair
I
road him to the lake
then
we bake
The
wind in my hair
The
wind in my hair
I
brought him into my house
then
we saw a mouse
The
wind in my hair

A Sense of Scents
(What’s that smell?)
My favorite sense is my sense of
smell.
It can sense different scents,
Many of which I know very well.
There are many smells if you smell
the air.
I can smell pizza, popcorn, and
grapes,
Also pie and the scent of a pear.
I can smell bananas and apples.
I can smell a hot toasted pop tart.
I like to smell the scent of
Snapple.
Take another deep-smelling whiff.
I can smell bacon and candy bars.
Hey, is that turpentine I sniff?
I think I can smell rubber cement.
I can smell stinking toxic paint
fumes.
These smells are becoming a
torment!
I think that hate my sense of
smell!

The Lazy Man
I want to get out of class,
Because I’m bored and tired.
Maybe I could go fishing and catch a bass
I could work at McDonalds and get fired.
Because I’m bored and tired
I’ll just take a power nap
I could work at McDonalds and get fired.
When I see my former teachers I’ll be slapped.
I’ll just take a power nap
I lack the trait of attention paying.
When I see my former teachers I’ll be slapped.
I wonder how much you get paid for vampire slaying.
I lack the trait of attention paying.
Maybe I could go fishing and catch a bass
I wonder how much you get paid for vampire slaying.
I want to get out of class.

The Number 7
Seven is the number that can’t be beat
It’s higher than six who is soft and
sweet
Seven is the number that even 8 9
We waited seven years to open up the
wine
Seven Up is the drink that my friend
likes best
My little brother likes the drink, but
just not his vest
My little cousin can’t wait to turn
seven so he can
count by himself to eleven
The number seven is special to all
Especially when using the big eight
ball

Cafeteria
I once ate at a cafeteria
That I’m sure was covered in bacteria
I had meat loaf that looked like turkey
Their milk was sour and water murky
I poked the meat loaf with a fork
It made a sound like someone harked
I poked it again and said
This is a little rare and
The cook came running out growling like a bear
I tried to eat the
corn
But it made a sound like a horn
I looked at the mashed potatoes and gravy
And thought about
eating them just maybe
But before I could they got up
As they walked away everyone shut up
I never went back
and never will
Because I swear that food can kill
